I have to get on this soap box. I think that George Bush made a mistake by going into Iraq because we have yet to find weapons of mass destruction, which was his justification for the war. When that didn't work, he decided to stay anyway. When are we going to realize that we're now an empire with all that this entails? Our currency is devalued, our taxes are too high, and war is a normal occurrence. We will find ourselves in perpetual war and go the way of Rome.
Moved to news and Views. Probably fits better there.
HI. As someone who's politically inclined, lives in England and has a view on this topic, I would like to say this. The British prime minister Tony Blair I believe made a huge mistake going into war with George Bush. Where MR Bush goes, so does Tony it seems. Mr Blair, as has been shown in British media recently, often changes his views to fit the occasion. As was said previously, the war was first justified on the existence of weapons of mass destruction and the need to eliminate the threat posed by sad am Hussein. Now no weapons have been found, the line from mr Blair and bush is that the war was fought to free the people of Iraq. hmm, changed their tunes I think. Politicians I believe, could make murder legal if they felt it to be politically expedient. As for the alleged mistreatment of Iraqi prisoners by British army soldiers, if that's true, I am one who will be very disappointed in our armed forces, for whom on the whole I have the greatest regard.
Well, now that the US and Brittish forces are there and have toppled the regeme, we can't just leave the Iraqi people hanging. Unfortunatley, Bush got the US in to this mess and Blare followed him, but now that we are in to it, we can't leave. It would be like someone taking a shit, but not wyping up afterwords. U did the dirty work, but didn't clean up afterwords, but the consiquences are much more serious than the analogy itself. I can't believe both the UK and US admonistrations in power were so stupid. I mean, what were they thinking? The colission forces were just going to invade Iraq, take out the dictatorship and then everything would be just peachy? Well, welcome to the real world. You can't expect people who have been ruled by one dictator for their entire lives to just all the sudden wake up and know how to run a democracy. That would be like throwing someone in the middle of the Pacific who has never swam before and telling them to either swim or drown. Thanks to Bush, the American people are going to have to pack on several hundred billion dollars to our already steep defisit. This war has already costed the American people 162 billion dollars, according to a report I heard today on the BBC, and the rebuilding process hasn't even started yet. But even worse than the financial concerns, is the loss of life that the collision forces have already suffered, and I'm sure it will only worsen. Why you ask? All because George W Bush had to finish his daddy's bisness. And, not only did going in to this war fuck the American people up, but it has also comprimised our international relations with other countries. Gee, maybe I should write a book, huh? Fue, I feel better now.
Yes, but when we leave, Iraq will be cleaner than when we got there, and Saddam won't be there, if we do our job correctly. Bush has done some really dum things, but Kerry would be scary!
Yeah, Bush already did some stupid stuff, like dragging us in to this in the first place, so I'm not so sure how compitent he is. Not that Carry is any better. Personally, I don't like either of them
Yes this war was really stupid. My sister's BF is in the military, and he has done not one, but two tours to date. Right after the terrorist attacks of 9/11/01 he was deployed to Afghanistan. He was there for awhile, and then last year he and his unit were deployed to Iraq. He is back safe and sound thankfully. And just think how many jobs have been lost all due to this ugly and unnecessary war. I'm not quite sure who I want for the next POTUS, but please don't give us Bush!!
I agree about the WMD thing too. What a way to deceive people! Who do they think they were kidding?
Bush used the terror of 9/11 to justify this war that in itself is unforgivable
and the dispicable sleekit way he fabricated the WMD story as a "legitimate" reason to destroy a country already on its knees,....hmmmm i can only suppose he considered Iraq to be an easy option
but like the Vietnamese the Irqai's are not going to lie down and these daily acts of terrorisim will continue, until bush and his puppet blair see sense
Bush and Blair are in a no win situation and i can only hope they dont impose the inevitable American regime on Iraq
may Allah be with those people if they do.
Hi, I honestly think that Bush should never have become president. With election time getting closer, I think more people need to not support Bush. This is not to say that they should support Carrie, because he's a hack too and also wants to keep troops in Iraq. My personal opinion on this is that Ralph Nader should be the one in office, and not because he wants to legalize pot (smile.) Its because he wants to leave the Iraqis alone. They can form their own country, and if they cant, then so what? That's their problem. No Americans should be getting killed over this senseless war. Any Ralph Nader support? My sister and I are making t-shirts to support him...Keep me posted.
Niblet
Bush was put in the whitehouse thru a con the election result was rigged and for 1 reason only,
to finish what his daddy failed to do in the gulf
The result is a modern day vietman that will haunt the bush and succeeding administrations for years to come
how can America tolerate and justify so many young people dying in a country that has no concept of freedom
to leave Iraq alone will mean that they slip back in to dictatorship or more likely civil war
Bush's imbicilic idea's are not the answer but i dont think there is 1,how do you begin to teach people who have lived in terror about democracy, when they dont want to learn.
I see your point. I guess this situation really has no answer. its hard to say what would happen if we left Iraq alone. i guess your right though. And a lot of people are still scared after 9-11. it was a terrible thing and i can understand why they're so afraid.
it was and i can still see the whole thing like a film,
I think its all too easy for America to trade off the suffering and horror of 9/11 and bush has based his whole term in office on the attrocity.

Last night on BBC parliament, I was watching the presidential debate and John Kerry said something that hit the nail on the head. After September 11, Americans were all Americans, there were no democrats, no Republicans. Now, however, that has changed and Bush has undoubtedly divided the country. I'm not American myself, but I have to agree with the correspondent who opines that Bush has based his whole tenure of office on 9/11. I also agree that we can't pull troups out now, but that doesn't alter the fact that Bush, and Blair for that matter, led us into a war that is at best of questionable justification. The best we can do is vote both of them out, and hopefully in the case of Britain, that will mean Michael Howard as prime minister.
uno incubo grande!
